       A List of Bruckner's Symphonies

The symphonies are considered emblematic of the final stage of Austro-German
Romanticism because of their rich harmonic language, strongly polyphonic character,
and considerable length. Bruckner's compositions helped to define contemporary
musical radicalism, owing to their dissonances, unprepared modulations, and roving
        harmonies.

Bruckner's last three symphonies (Nos. 7, 8, 9) are considered his best but No. 4,
the "Romantic," is also very popular.  Bruckner is also known for his religious and secular vocal music.

   Linz period:

       Symphony in F minor

Symphony No. 1 in C minor

Symphony No. 3 in D minor

       Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major  (1776 - 1778)

       Symphony No. 6 in A major  (1879 - 1881)

       Symphony No. 7 in E major  (1881 - 1885)
